The Chateau in Azay was built in 1518 by Gilles Bertholot but confiscated by Francoise 1st in 1527. Do not miss the "Son et Lumiere" which you can walk around in the evening from 10pm (depending on season)

The Chateau & gardens, Villandry
The "Sleeping Beauty" chateau of Usse is 10 miles from Azay and the chateau of Villandry, famous for its gardens, is just 7 miles away.
The region is not all about chateau as you will see when you visit. In the nearby village of Marnay there is a museum, "the Musee Maurice Dufresne", dedicatated to 3000 kinds of historic machinery all lovingly restored.
